Travel - Internal Air The only airstrip is at Funafuti. There is no internal air service. Sea The islands are served by a passenger and cargo vessel, the Nivaga II, based at Funafuti, which occasionally calls at Suva (Fiji). Road There are a few roads, constructed from impacted coral, and several dirt tracks that span the islands. There are taxis, but limited transport service is also provided by privately operated minibuses. The usual forms of transport on the islands are small pick-up trucks, motorcycles and bicycles, which can be hired at the hotel. |
