Sport & Activities

There are facilities for tennis, basketball, volleyball, fishing, swimming and bowls. There is a sports club at Serravalle with modern equipment and there are numerous football pitches throughout the Republic. The 24 Ore di San Marino is the country’s main sailing regatta (held in July). The Gran Premio Formula 3000 (Formula One Grand Prix) is one of several annual motor racing events. Stamp- and coin-collecting are popular in San Marino – probably because the country is the only one in the Italian area which issues legal tender gold coins (the famous Scudi), and San Marino’s philatelic office has been offering information and a new issues and standing order service to collectors for over 40 years. For further information, contact the State Philatelic & Numismatic Office (tel: (0549) 882 365; fax: (0549) 882 363; e-mail: aasfn@omniway.sm; website: www.aasfn.sm).
