Currency
The first Euro notes and coins were introduced in January 2002. For further information on currency, credit cards, travellers cheques, exchange rates and currency restrictions, see the Italy section.

Currency exchange
Many banks offer differing exchange rates depending on the denominations of currency being bought or sold. Check with the banks for details and current rates.

Banking hours
Mon-Fri 0830-1330 and 1500-1630.

Note
Since the early 1970s, San Marino has increased its production of indigenous gold and silver coins.
