1
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travellers over one year of age coming from infected areas.

Food & drink
Mains water is normally chlorinated and, whilst relatively safe, may cause mild abdominal upsets. Bottled water is available. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are generally considered safe to eat.

Other risks
Hepatitis A occurs. There is a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS and precautions should be undertaken to avoid exposure.

Health care
Health insurance is recommended, since medical treatment can be expensive. There are 16 public and six private hospitals. Standards vary hugely.
