History and Government Government Alderney has a president who serves as the civic head and has responsibility for the administration of the island, with the exception of the police, public health and education, which are presided over by the Lieutenant-Governor of Guernsey. The President of Alderney is elected for a four-year term by universal adult suffrage of residents of Alderney. |
