Information and Help Desks A Welcome Center (tel: 704 359 4027) is located on the baggage level and provides airport and tourist information. There is also an information desk (tel: 704 359 4013) on the ticketing level. Travelers’ information desks are located at each baggage reclaim area.
Airport Facilities Money and communications: There is a bank with bureau de change facilities and ATMs. Eating and drinking: The airport has plenty of restaurants, cafs and bars. Shopping: There is a wide variety of shops and a duty-free shop. Luggage: Trolleys are available for a small fee. Other facilities: These include a 24-hour interfaith chapel, first aid assistance and family toilets.
Disabled Facilities All toilets and telephones are wheelchair-accessible and there are TTY-text telephones located throughout the terminal (tel: 704 359 4837). Wheelchairs are available on request from airlines; passengers requiring special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. Assistance carts for accessing areas of the terminal are available on request from Skycaps. Disabled car parking spaces with direct access to the terminal are provided in the hourly car park. The daily parking car park also has disabled parking spaces and is served by a wheelchair-accessible shuttle.
Conference and Business Facilities The airport has various conference rooms, from small offices to an auditorium seating up to 80 delegates. Contact Host-Marriott Services (tel: 704 359 4483) for reservations.
Car Hire Companies include Alamo/National, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz and Triangle, with desks on the baggage reclaim level in the passenger terminal.
Car Parking Hourly, daily and long-term parking is available in several car parks. There are also two satellite car parks and a remote overflow car park nearby. All car parks, except the hourly one, are served by complimentary shuttle services to the airport. A new parking deck with 3,000 spaces will be located in the current daily car park, next to the control tower; it is slated for opening in 2005. Valet parking is available.
Driving Directions From central Charlotte, take I-277 to I-77 south, then exit 6B to Billy Graham Parkway and follow signs for the airport. Alternatively, from I-85, take exit 33 to Billy Graham Parkway, and then turn onto Josh Birmingham Parkway, following signs for the airport.
Public Transport Road: Taxi: Taxis are readily available from outside the terminal on the baggage reclaim level and operate fixed-rate fares to various zones in the local area. Bus: The airport’s designated shuttle is Carolina Transportation (CATS) Airport Express, which serves the central city area, major hotels and the business districts, departing from the east end of the upper level of the Main Terminal. Most hotels also provide courtesy shuttles.
