Linnanmäki
Description: Founded in 1950, Linnanmäki amusement park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Finland and has attracted around 44 million visitors since it opened its doors to the public. This giant theme park was opened by six Finnish child welfare organisations to promote children’s events in the country. The Children’s Day Foundation was set up by these six charities with responsibility for managing the park in 1956. This is still the case today and all profits are donated to charity. The most popular ride at the park is the Wooden Roller Coaster, which was built in 1951. Other rides include the Space Express roller coaster and Space Shot adventure ride. The Toy and Play Museum opened in 1996 and its collection features examples of toys and games past and present. Additionally, the Journey in Time exhibition takes the visitor through the history of children’s toys.
