Chessington World of Adventures
Description: Chessington World of Adventures is the biggest theme park and zoo in the South of England. The park began life as a zoo, but was transformed into a theme park during the late 1980s, with the first rollercoaster ride opening in 1991. Attracting thousands of visitors every day, the park has many rides which include the new Vampire rollercoaster, Tomb Blaster, Samurai, Rameses Revenge and Dragons Falls, as well as a Beanoland, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of Dennis the Menace in 2001. Today, visitors can also wander around the zoo, which has been combined with the park, and see one of the biggest families of gorillas in Europe and some of the world’s rarest large cats. The Trail of the Kings animal enclosure opened in 2001, allowing visitors to see animals safely from behind viewing screens. The whole site is owned by the Tussaud’s Group which also owns other major attractions in the UK, including Madame Tussaud’s London, The London Planetarium, Alton Towers, Warwick Castle and Thorpe Park.
